# Build graph model in 3 steps

Go to the [**Files**](/smabbler/smabbler-portal/files.md) page:

Upload file(s)

Click **Upload**, then upload TXT or CSV files. Other document formats can be converted with Unstructured IO in the upload window (see [Files](/smabbler/smabbler-portal/files.md)) or with the [document processing guides](/smabbler/galaxia/docs-processing-guides.md).

Analyze file(s)

Select the uploaded file(s), click on the **Analyze** button and configure the ID and text column(s).

Build graph model

Select the analyzed file(s), click on the <mark style="color:blue;">**Build graph model**</mark> button and name your model.

After you create the model, you are taken to the [**Models**](/smabbler/smabbler-portal/models.md) page. The model shows *Pending create* while it is being built and *Inactive* when it is ready. Then you can:

* Activate the model → Turn on the switch on the model tile and confirm in the **Activate model** dialog. Activation takes a few minutes.
* Ask your model → When the model is *Active*, click **Ask**. You are taken to [**Ask Galaxia**](/smabbler/smabbler-portal/ask-galaxia.md), where you can ask it questions.

You can also click **Build new model** on the Home page. It takes you through uploading and analyzing a file, creating the model and activating it, and then opens [Ask Galaxia](/smabbler/smabbler-portal/ask-galaxia.md) with the new model.
